YEAR LONG. WELL, THIS WEEKEND IS KANSAS CITY’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF PRIDE FEST. KMBC NINE DORISSA WHITE SHOWS US HOW WESTPORT BARS ARE GETTING READY FOR ALL OF THIS AND DORISSA. THERE’S ONE SPOT PREPARING FOR HIS VERY FIRST PRIDE FEST. THAT’S RIGHT. WELL, WE’RE ACTUALLY IN FRONT OF THAT SPOT RIGHT NOW. THIS IS KC AND IT WILL BE CELEBRATING ITS VERY FIRST PRIDE. OWNER LANCE PIERCE SAYS HE’S EXCITED FOR THIS WEEKEND, BUT MORE EXCITED FOR WHAT’S TO COME. LET’S DO THIS IN WESTPORT. PRIDE PREP IS IN FULL EFFECT. LOCAL BARS ARE STOCKING UP, STAFFING UP AND SPREADING LOVE AS THEY GET READY FOR A WAVE OF CELEBRATION FOR PRIDE. I THINK PRIDE IS THIS REALLY GREAT TIME WHERE WE GET TO KIND OF LAY DOWN THE KIND OF CONSTRUCTS OF THE WORLD AND JUST KIND OF BE OUR TRUE SELVES. LANCE PIERCE, OWNER OF Q KANSAS CITY, A NEW LGBTQ PLUS BAR IN WESTPORT, IS GETTING PREPARED FOR THEIR FIRST PRIDE. IT’S A MILESTONE MOMENT. BEEN KIND OF A WHIRLWIND SINCE WE OPENED, BUT WE’RE SUPER EXCITED ABOUT PRIDE WEEKEND. OF COURSE, WE’VE LOADED UP ON INVENTORY. EVERY PERSON WHO WORKS HERE IS SCHEDULED TO WORK. WE’RE OPEN FOR EXTENDED HOURS THIS WEEKEND AND JUST AROUND THE BLOCK. PINCHES TACOS HAS THEIR OWN PREP GOING ON. WE GOT A GOOD IDEA OF HOW KIND OF WILD IT CAN GET AND HOW MANY PEOPLE. SO WE ARE MAKING SURE TO HAVE PLENTY OF DRINKS, PLENTY OF FOOD, AND PLENTY OF STAFF TO ACCOMMODATE FOR EVERYONE. THEN I THINK IT’S IMPORTANT TO MAKE EVERYONE FEEL INCLUDED AND MAKE THEM FEEL CELEBRATED AND LOVED AND LIKE THEY HAVE A VOICE AND THAT THEY ARE IMPORTANT TO CELEBRATE. AND THE PARADE KICKS OFF RIGHT HERE IN WESTPORT ON SATURDAY, REPORTING LIVE IN WESTPORT, DORISSA WHITE KMBC NINE NEWS. THERE IS A FULL LIST
